English Championship side Wolves are looking to hijack Celtic’s attempts at signing Konyaspor left-back Barry Douglas, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper have reported on their transfer blog (Tuesday) that the two clubs are eyeing a move for the 27-year-old valued at £750,000.

The Glasgow-born player has been in Turkey since January 2016 after making the move across from Polish side Lech Poznan.

The Scotsman has also previously played in the Premiership, amassing 61 appearances across a three-year spell between 2010 and 2013 with Dundee United.

Last Douglas was however hit by various injuries and in the Turkish top-flight he managed just 22 appearances for Konyaspor.

He is also entering the final two years of his contract at the club, meaning that his value could begin to drop in the upcoming windows.

Celtic currently have young star Kieran Tierney as their first choice left-back, while the more experienced Emilio Izaguirre is playing as his backup.

However, Brendan Rodgers may be keen to bring someone in younger than the 31-year-old, who can also provide the same attacking talents as Tierney brings to the team.

Wolves, meanwhile are undergoing mass changes under summer appointment Nuno Espirito Santo and they have already brought in three players with a left-back said to be on their list next after having played natural right-back Matt Doherty there in recent seasons.
