Celtic defender Mikael Lustig believes that the Scottish Premier League champions will be able to attract quality players following their historic season.

Brendan Rodgers’ men finished the domestic season unbeaten and completed a memorable treble, winning the SPL title, Scottish League Cup and Scottish Cup.

Lustig has been an essential figure in Celtic’s squad in his sixth season with the club.

The 30-year-old made a total of 49 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals.

Speaking with the Scottish Sun, Lustig is confident that the club will not have any problems encouraging the best talent to come and play at Celtic Park next season.

“I’m excited about the summer,” he said. “The players here have done brilliantly and any new player will have to prove they want to work and play here.

“If you’re an ambitious player, then come to Celtic.

“To have the feeling that we can keep the best players and also bring in better players to the club is good.

“That’s the first time in three or four years that I can say that.”

Celtic were very active in the last summer transfer window and they were able to attract the likes of Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele to join the club.

Both players played a crucial role in helping the Hoops enjoy a successful season as they scored a combined total of 57 goals in all competitions this season.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will also be key in bringing the right type of player to the club given his experience working in the Premier League with Swansea City and Liverpool.

The Hoops will need to strength the squad with better quality if they want to transfer their SPL form into the Champions League next season.
