Celtic have completed the signing of highly-rated youngster Kundai Benyu, it has been confirmed.

The Scottish treble-winners announced on their official club website and Twitter account on Thursday that the 19-year-old had put pen-to-paper on a four-year-deal at Parkhead.

Benyu will complete his move to the club when the summer transfer window officially opens on July 1, where he arrives from English Championship outfit Ipswich Town.

The box-to-box midfielder failed to make a single first-team appearance at Portman Road, and spent the 2016-17 season on loan at Aldershot Town in the National League.

He scored five goals and supplied three assists from 23 appearances in all competitions for the English lower-league outfit last season, but has now made the jump to the Scottish Premiership with Celtic.

Benyu will join up with his new Hoops team-mates at their pre-season training camp in Austria, where they are currently preparing for their Champions League qualifying campaign which begins next month.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are due to face the winner of the clash between Linfield and La Fiorita in the second qualifying round on July 11, and Benyu could be handed his competitive debut.

He is the second confirmed new arrival at the club after the signing of Aberdeen winger Jonny Hayes, and he is the second young midfielder to sign for the club within the last six months.

Celtic had previously moved to acquire 19-year-old Kouassi Eboue from Russian outfit Krasnodar in January.
