West Ham are set to battle it out with Red Bull Leipzig in the race to sign Caen ace Yann Karamoh, according to a Sun report.

The newspaper claims the Hammers are ready to shell out £8.75million for the 18-year-old attacker.

It is said Monaco were also interested in Karamoh, but they have now turned their attentions elsewhere.

The report states West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has been impressed by the Frenchman’s versatility, as the 2016-17 campaign saw him on the right-wing, the left-wing, as an attacking midfielder and as an out-and-out striker.

Karamoh is highly rated in his homeland, and he enjoyed a fine breakthrough season last term.

He was a mainstay of Caen’s forward line in the 2016-17 campaign, scoring five goals in 35 Ligue 1 outings, as well as providing four assists.

The 18-year-old made the step up from his club’s B team in December 2015, but he did not make his debut for the senior side until the start of last term.

Bilic is looking to bolster all areas of his squad this summer, as he will hope to improve on his side’s 11th-place finish in last term’s Premier League.

Karamoh has been capped on five occasions by France Under-19s, and he has been featured in the Under-21s squad, but he is yet to make an appearance for them.
