Premier League rivals West Ham and Tottenham look set to go head-to-head in the hunt for former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, according to Bild.

The German newspaper claim on their website that the duo also face competition from French side Olympique Lyonnais for the 29-year-old Mexican striker, who is said to be valued at around £13million (€15million) by his current club Bayer Leverkusen.

Bild report that it is well known that Spurs, West Ham and Lyon are showing “great interest” in goal machine Hernandez.

The 94-time capped Mexican international, who has notched up an impressive 48 goals for his country, most recently turned out in his country’s 4-1 defeat to Germany in the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup in Russia on Thursday.

Hernandez impressed during his spell in the Premier League with Manchester United, scoring 59 goals and providing 20 assists during his 158 matches across all competitions, as well as picking up two winners’ medals.

West Ham are known to be in the market for strikers this summer, with David Gold admitting the club are “desperate” to sign at least two Premier League proven forwards, and it appears that Hernandez could fit the bill for the Hammers.

Tottenham meanwhile have just Harry Kane and Vincent Janssen as their available, recognised centre forwards, with makeshift forward Heung-Min Son ruled out of at least some of pre-season with a broken arm.

Hernandez made 36 appearances for Leverkusen last season, scoring 13 goals and picking up four assists as his campaign was disrupted by injuries which kept him out of several matches.
