West Ham are reportedly one of four Premier League teams weighing up a move for Sassuolo striker Gregoire Defrel, but there are better options in Serie A that Slaven Bilic must consider.
Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb believe the Hammers are joined by Southampton, Leicester and Tottenham in their pursuit of French forward who impressed in the green and black of Sassuolo last season.
The 26-year-old scored 16 goals in 38 league and cup appearances for the Serie A side, who finished in a comfortable 12th place, safely avoiding the bottom three.
Bilic is likely to be in the market for a new striker this summer after Simone Zaza, Jonathan Calleri, Ashley Fletcher and Andre Ayew all struggled to have an impact in claret and blue following moves to West Ham last summer.
This Is Futbol believes Defrel could turn out to be another example of a striker to fail at the London Stadium and that Bilic should move for one of these three proven Serie A strikers instead.
