Tottenham ace Georges-Kévin N’Koudou has revealed on Twitter that he wore the Chelsea shirt for his “friend” Michy Batshuayi.

The 22-year-old was pictured on social media wearing the home shirt of Tottenham’s London rivals, which would have surely angered the White Hart Lane faithful.

Winger N’Koudou, who was a 2016 summer signing, made it clear that he had no intentions of disrespecting anyone when he decided to wear the shirt.

After 101 Great Goals had posted the picture of N’Koudou on their official Twitter account, the youngster issued this response.

“I’m wearing the shirt for my friend Michy Batshuayi gave me,” said N’Koudou. “No disrespect here, just old friendship, sorry for now knowing.”

Striker Batshuayi moved to Stamford Bridge in 2016 and played alongside N’Koudou during their time at French side Marseille.

Following their transfers to their respective clubs last summer, they both ended up spending a lot of time on the bench and failing to secure regular football at their new clubs.

Both Chelsea and Tottenham were the standout teams during the previous campaign, with the Blues going on to win the Premier League title.

Belgium international Batshuayi scored the goal that won Antonio Conte’s side the title when he came off the bench to score the winner against West Brom in May.

Ahead of the forthcoming Premier League season, the attacking duo will be hoping to have more of an impact at their respective clubs.
