Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier has heaped huge praise on fellow teammate Son Heung-Min and claimed that he improved as a player during his second season at White Hart Lane.

The 24-year-old South Korea international struggled to produce consistent performances during his debut season at the North London club and only managed to score a total of four Premier League goals in the 2015-16 campaign.

However, Son performed brilliantly for Spurs last season and become an integral part of the starting lineup, contributing with 21 goals and ten assists in all competitions.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Dier revealed that he was delighted that his fellow teammate managed to adapt to English football last season and he believes that Son has the potential to perform better next season.

“I think he had good spells and bad spells but you could always see his quality,” he said.

“He’s a fantastic player with a lot of quality and it’s great that last season he was able to show that, so credit to him – he kept going, kept working hard and now he’s reaping the rewards so everyone’s very happy for him.

“I hope he can build on this now. He’s a fantastic player, he’s got so much quality, he’s quick, strong, can dribble, can shoot with both feet so he’s got a bit of everything and it’s up to him now really if he wants to push on again to another level.”

Dier is someone who understands the difficulty to adjusting to life in the Premier League as he experienced something similar when he joined Spurs from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon at the beginning of the 2014-15 season.

Although he scored the winning goal against West Ham United on his debut, the 23-year-old failed to make a significant impact on the team on a weekly basis.

The midfielder has since become an important member of the Spurs squad and he has also performed well on the international stage, making a total of 19 appearances for the England national team.
