Tottenham midfield star Dele Alli insists he is focused on his current “journey” despite speculation linking him with a big-money move.

The 21-year-old produced a series of stunning displays week-in, week-out for the Premier League club last season, contributing 22 goals and 13 assists from 50 appearances in all competitions.

His impressive form helped Tottenham secure a top-four finish and qualification for the Champions League group-stage for the second successive campaign, although they remain without silverware since 2007-08.

But Alli’s form has also reportedly caught the eye of Europe’s elite, with Spanish news outlet Diario Gol claiming that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is keen on signing the goalscoring midfielder this summer.

The Manchester Evening News, meanwhile, have also credited Manchester City with an interest in Alli, but a move to their Premier League rivals appears unlikely.

However, contrary to both reports, the player himself insists that he is happy on his current path, and rubbished talk of a summer move away from north London.

He told the Standard: “It’s not really something I am thinking about too much. I think people get too worried about where they are going to end up and lose focus on the journey and not enjoying it.

“So, for me, as a player I’m signed at Tottenham and enjoying it. Who knows where I am going to end up but I am enjoying the journey.

“Whether I stay at Tottenham for the rest of my career or if I do happen to go somewhere else I’m sure if it happens it will be at a time when I think that’s what’s needed. I am just looking to enjoy the journey I have.”

Yet while Alli all but ruled out a big-money move this summer, he refused to rule out the possibility of leaving the club later in his career.

However, at least for now, with another five years left to run on his current deal, Tottenham fans can be well-assured that their star midfielder and key performer is in it for the long haul for Tottenham.

Alli moved to Tottenham in a £5million deal from MK Dons in 2015.
