Celtic are one of three clubs said to keen on signing Tottenham youngster Josh Onomah on loan after his England Under-20 exploits at the World Cup, according to the Sun.

The report claims Brendan Rodgers’ side can trump any other interested parties with the lure of Champions League football which is sure to entice the 20-year-old attacking midfielder this summer.

It is believed that Premier League new boys Brighton and Huddersfield are also said to be interested in Onomah, who has been given little opportunity in Mauricio Pochettino’s first team this season.

Pochettino is said to be keen to allow Onomah to leave his side this season, with the former Southampton boss keen to see him develop but understanding that he is unlikely to be given the chance to do that with Spurs.

Spurs’ number 25 failed to start a Premier League match throughout the 2016-17 campaign, making only five substitute appearances in England’s top flight as the north London outfit looked to catch Chelsea.

However, Onomah was let loose by England Under-20’s manager Paul Simpson in South Korea and he starred for the Young Lions as they won the competition despite Onomah receiving a red card in the quarter-final.

Celtic have been without Australia international Tom Rogic in the number 10 role for much of the season after he suffered an ankle injury, but he has now returned to the first team.

With Scotland international Stuart Armstrong also vying for a place in Rodgers’ first team, it remains to be seen where he would slot in to the 48-time Scottish champions’ side.
