Tony Adams believes Tottenham “don’t have enough fans” as they prepare to move into Wembley for the start of the 2017/18 Premier League campaign.

Spurs recently concluded the season by finishing as runners-up to champions Chelsea and ending the campaign unbeaten at White Hart Lane.

In their final match at their old ground, they beat Manchester United 2-1, with academy product Harry Kane scoring the winning goal.

Now, the north London outfit will play all their home matches at England’s national stadium before moving into their new surroundings for the start of the 2018/19 season.

Former Arsenal centre-back Adams believes there will be “a lot of neutral fans” watching Mauricio Pochettino’s side next term because they don’t have enough home supporters to fill the 90,000 seater Wembley Stadium.

“It’ll be interesting to see how they do at Wembley,” Adams told the London Evening Standard. “It’ll be a big transition and I think they might come off the pace a bit.

“They’ll find a lot of neutrals there. They don’t have enough fans. It was the same with Arsenal, though we had more fans then than they do know, we drew in a few drifters for our Wembley games [the Gunners played Champions League home games at the national stadium in 1998 and 1999].

“Their real fans will be rattling around there, quite a way from a pitch. Away from White Hart Lane it won’t be a fortress and I think they’ll struggle to get points there. Maybe we’ll get fourth!”

When Tottenham move into Wembley, they will already be familiar with their surroundings because they played their Champions League home matches at England’s national stadium this term.

Pochettino’s side suffered two defeats from their three Champions League group games which resulted in them finishing in third place and entering the Europa League.

They suffered more misery when entering that competition, recording a costly home draw against Gent which knocked them out of the competition.

Nonetheless, they finished off the season in positive fashion, winning 12 of their last 13 league games, including beating relegated Hull 7-1 on the last day of the season.
