Vincent Aboubakar lead the Cameroon attack against Germany on Sunday evening amid reports that Newcastle are winning the race to sign the Porto striker.

The Daily Star claimed that the Toon are closing in on a deal to make the powerful forward their second summer signing in a deal worth £9million this summer.

The former Valenciennes and Lorient striker scored 19 goals in 38 league and cup encounters while on loan with Turkish outfit Besiktas, who held aloft their second successive SuperLig title at the end of the 2016-17 season.

However, 25-year-old Aboubakar failed to prevent Cameroon’s exit from the Confederations Cup, losing 3-1 to World Cup holders Germany thanks to goals from Kerem Demirbay and a brace from Timo Werner.

This Is Futbol analyses three things that we learned from Aboubakar’s performance against Germany in Sochi, as Cameroon crashed out in last place of a group that also contained Chile and Australia.
