Earlier this month, the Mirror reported that Newcastle were closing in on a move for Eibar defender Florian Lejeune after agreeing an £8.7million deal.
However, he should forget about this signing and instead rival Leicester’s reported £15million approach to sign West Brom stopper Jonny Evans.
The Mail claim that the Foxes have made an improved £15million offer for Evans after seeing a £10million bid thrown back at them by West Brom, who are said to be unwilling to sell.
Evans has two years left on his contract with West Brom, and talks over an extension have reportedly not yet begun.
Evans could be tempted to leave the Midlands outfit and we believe Newcastle should go head-to-head with Craig Shakespeare’s Leicester for his signature.
