Aston Villa are looking at the possibility of signing Hull winger Ahmed Elmohamady, according to a report in the Birmingham Mail.

The newspaper claims that Steve Bruce is interested in the 29-year-old and the club is currently weighing up a move for the versatile player.

It is said Elmohamady, who can play at right-back and as a right winger, has two-years left on his current deal at the KCOM Stadium and he could be available for £2.5million.

Elmohamady was a regular member of the Tigers team that suffered relegation from the Premier League during the recently concluded campaign.

The Egypt international has experience of earning promotion to the top tier and he did so with Bruce two seasons ago during their time at Hull when they beat Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off finals.

The report states that Bruce is looking at signing at least one wide player this summer and Elmohamady’s representatives have hinted that he might be leaving Hull this summer.

Villa finished in the bottom half of the Championship table last season despite spending heavily during the summer and winter windows.

From all the players they signed only two can play out wide, Albert Adomah and Birkir Bjarnason, with the latter also having the ability to play in the middle of the park.
