Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic is attracting the interest of Newcastle, Burnley, Huddersfield and Spartak Moscow, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the top-flight quartet are looking at the 22-year-old, with Russian side Spartak Moscow watching the youngster in recent months.

Despite being watched by Moscow, the report claims that the Celtic first teamer is keen on a move to the Premier League.

Centre-back Simunovic recently concluded the Scottish Premiership campaign where he helped Brendan Rodgers side win the domestic treble.

Simunovic was a key member of the Bhoys’ defensive backline throughout the season as they also finished off the campaign unbeaten in the SPL.

The report quotes Simunovic’s representatives who state that “no offer” has been made for their client and “until then he is looking forward to next season with Celtic”.

Croatia-born Simunovic played 33 matches in all competitions for his side during the 2016/17 season, helping them secure 17 clean sheets but he did miss a number of matches at the start of the campaign because of a torn ligament in the knee.

Two of the clubs mentioned in the report, Newcastle and Huddersfield, both recently earned promotion to the English Premier League while Burnley secured their status in the top-flight under Sean Dyche.

By contrast, Spartak Moscow were crowned champions of Russia’s top division when Massimo Carrera’s side pipped rivals CSKA Moscow to the finishing line.

During his time at Parkhead, Simunovic has played 50 matches in all competitions for the Glasgow giants, scoring two goals.

He has three years left on his current deal at Celtic after he moved to Scotland from his hometown club of Dinamo Zagreb in 2015.
