Napoli ace Pepe Reina’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon has claimed he is yet to receive any offers from Newcastle for his client.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper has been linked with the Magpies throughout the summer, but it seems to have come to nothing.

Quilon, told Italian news outlet Il Mattino: “We do not have offers from any other clubs, as we are focused on Napoli and expect news pretty soon.”

This development comes after the Mirror reported on the live transfer blog on their website last Wednesday (10:04) that Reina, who is out of contract next summer, will be offered the opportunity to remain at Napoli for another year.

It was said that a new contract for the Spanish shot-stopper would include a release clause which would allow the Toon to buy him for less than £1million.

The report stated Napoli planned to include a clause which would mean he would be free to open talks with clubs if they made a bid of £883,950 (€1million).

Toon manager Rafa Benitez is believed to be keen on a third reunion with Reina, and they have already spent time together at Liverpool and Napoli.

The 34-year-old was a mainstay between the sticks for the Serie A giants last term, making 48 appearances across all competitions.
