Doubts have been cast over the futures of nine Arsenal first-team players this summer, including 28-year-old attacker Lucas Perez, after it was confirmed that Arsene Wenger is set to remain at the club, according to the Times.

The newspaper report that as many as nine first-team squad members could be sacrificed this summer, after the Frenchman vowed to cut players from his 33-man first-team squad.

The Premier League giants announced on their official club website on Wednesday that Wenger had agreed to sign a two-year contract extension, despite failing to deliver a top four finish or Champions League qualification last season.

However, the confirmed deal will finally allow Arsenal to push on with their summer transfer plans, and midfielder Jack Wilshere is one member of the first-team squad at the Emirates stumbling into uncertainty.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, where he made 29 league appearances, but was not offered a permanent stay and is set to return to Arsenal for pre-season.

But he returns with just one year left to run on his current contract, and with negotiations still yet to begin over a fresh agreement, Wilshere fears he could be offloaded by the club.

West Ham are said to be keen, but they have concerns over his continued injury struggles and may not pursue a deal.

The report also details that goalkeeping duo David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny could be offloaded, with Petr Cech likely to retain the No.1 jersey at the club for next season.

Both Kieran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson, meanwhile, enter the final years of their contracts, and Wenger may allow them to cut-short their deals whilst raising funds from their potential sale.

But fringe duo Yaya Sanogo and Mathieu Debuchy are almost certain to be moved on by Wenger, having had minimal impact on the first-team squad last season.

Sanogo joined Arsenal as a promising youngster in 2013, but after just 20 senior appearances, the 24-year-old’s time at the club may well have come.

Despite joining just a year ago, attacker Lucas Perez could also be axed. The Spaniard impressed with seven goals and five assists during his debut campaign, but has grown frustrated at his lack of regular opportunities.

Even if Wenger decides to keep him on board for at least another season, Perez himself might still pursue a potential exit.

Lastly, Francis Coquelin could be set to end a nine-year spell in north London, after losing his place in the starting eleven.

The 26-year-old had a storming campaign several years ago, but has struggled for consistency in more recent times, and Wenger may turn his attention to more reliable assets.
