Newcastle have been installed as favourites to sign Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

The Mirror claim the 27-year-old is a summer transfer target for Rafa Benitez’s side, but they have been ordered to pay for £15million if they are to obtain the England international’s signature.

Now, Ladbrokes have given the Toon odds as short as 3/1 to lure Gibbs to St. James’ Park, with Benitez looking to bolster his side after already confirming his first signing in the form of a permanent deal for Christian Atsu.

However, Newcastle could be rivalled for Gibbs’ signature by fellow Premier League new boys Brighton, who are second favourites at 9/2.

Premier League quintet Watford, West Brom, Swansea, Stoke and West Ham have all been given a price in the running to sign the Arsenal academy product, ranging from 5/1 to 16/1.

Arsenal’s number three was limited to just 22 appearances in all competitions this season, with only 11 coming in the Premier League as he played second fiddle to Spaniard Nacho Monreal.

That could see Gibbs jump ship this summer, almost a decade after making his Arsenal debut in an EFL Cup match against Sheffield United in October 2007.

However, it remains to be seen if Newcastle will pay the reported £15million required for Gibbs, who has just 12 months left on his current contract.
