Newcastle United are the second favourites to sign Southampton striker Charlie Austin, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Sky Bet have priced the Magpies at 10/1 to secure the signature of the 27-year-old striker in the summer transfer window.
The Tyneside club seem to be on the hunt for a striker in this transfer window as Bet Victor make them the favourites to land Burnley forward Andre Gray.
The newly-promoted Premier League side are currently ahead of a number of English clubs who are also interested in signing Austin with Bournemouth placed at 12/1, Everton at 25/1 and West Ham at 33/1.
Rafa Benitez’s side are currently second favourites behind Championship side Queens Park Rangers who are placed at 8/1 to acquire the striker’s services this summer.
Austin enjoyed a fantastic three-year stint at the London club, helping them secure promotion to the Premier League during the 2013/14 season.
The striker scored 47 goals in 88 appearances for QPR and it is no surprise that they want to re-sign the Englishman this summer.
Austin decided to join Premier League side Southampton during the 2016 January transfer window for a fee around £4million, but he has been unable to make much of an impact at the club due to a number of injuries.
The Englishman only made a total of 22 appearances for the club last season but he still managed to score nine goals in all competitions.
