Newcastle fans have urged their club to sell Aleksander Mitrovic on Twitter after it was reported that Besiktas were keen on signing the striker.
Fotospur claim the 22-year-old is interesting the Turkish champions after a difficult season with the Magpies that saw him struggle to earn regular first-team football alongside Dwight Gayle and Daryl Murphy.
It is believed that Besiktas officials will travel to Tyneside to discuss the future of the former Anderlecht striker, just two seasons after he joined the Toon for £14million in July 2015.
Mitrovic still has three years remaining on his current deal and it remains to be seen how much Rafa Benitez’s side would charge for the Serbia international, after a disappointing spell in the north east.
Newcastle fans pleaded with their club to cash in on their number 45, with some claiming he is simply not good enough to wear the black and white stripes of the Toon shirt.

Mitrovic scored just six goals in 29 league and cup encounters this season, as he played second fiddle to top scorer Gayle throughout Newcastle’s promotion-winning campaign.
With Benitez likely to strengthen his options in the final third, Mitrovic is now expected to leave this summer.
