Wolves are expected to complete a move for Rio Ave defender Roderick Miranda next week, according to a reliable journalist.

The Express & Star claimed last month that new manager Nuno Espirito Santo had identified Miranda as one of his first signings to make as Wolves manager, after replacing Paul Lambert.

Now, Express & Star reporter Tim Spiers claimed on his personal Twitter account a deal for the 26-year-old to move to Molineux could now be completed as early as next week.

The lofty defender has reportedly caught the attention of former Valencia and Porto boss Santo, helping Rio Ave finish in an impressive seventh place in the top tier of Portuguese football.

Miranda has helped his side keep an impressive 13 clean sheets in 37 league and cup appearances this season, scoring three goals for Luis Castro’s side.

Wolves could hold an advantage over other clubs in order to complete a deal for Miranda, with Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes representing both Miranda and Wolves boss Santo.

If Miranda’s move to the Midlands does eventually go through, he would be the fourth Portuguese player to play for the former Premier League side with Silvio, Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro already on the books.

It remains to be seen how much Santo’s side would have to cough up for Miranda, with two years remaining on his current deal at Rio Ave.
