Former Arsenal ace Emmanuel Petit has claimed it could be a risk for Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe to leave the club his summer.

Petit’s comments come after The Telegraph reported that Monaco had turned down an offer of £87million from Arsenal, following another rejected offer of £105million from Real Madrid.

Petit believes Mbappe could be the next Anthony Martial if he moves to soon.

Martial joined Manchester United from Monaco in the summer of 2015, and while he enjoyed an impressive first few months, his form has since waned.

Speaking in an interview with talkSPORT, Petit was keen to advise Mbappe against moving away from Monaco just yet.

“Can [Mbappe] take that risk? I don’t know yet because I haven’t seen much from him, just six months – that’s it.

“Remember two years ago we had almost the same example with Martial – he left Monaco for Manchester United.

“Martial was very good for the first months with Manchester United and since Mourinho is managing the team he’s not in the same position anymore.

“So it’s kind of a risk. Talent is something very important in football but you need to have confidence as well from your teammates and your manager.”

Mbappe burst onto the scene at Monaco last term, scoring 26 goals in 44 league and cup games, as well as providing 14 assists.

The 18-year-old was particularly impressive in his club’s run to the semi-finals of the Champions League, bagging six goals in nine appearances.

The young striker has been capped by the senior France side on four occasions, and he featured for the full 90 minutes in the 3-2 friendly win over England earlier this week.

Petit was part of the France World Cup winning side of 1998, and he also played at Arsenal for three seasons.
