Former Arsenal ace Ray Parlour has claimed new Victor Lindelof will be a fine signing for Manchester United.

The Manchester giants announced on their official website on Saturday night that the club had reached agreement with Benfica over the transfer of the player.

United claim the signing of the Swedish international is still subject to a medical, international clearance and personal terms.

Following the news Parlour was keen to offer his opinion on the Red Devil’s newest addition, praising him for his ball playing abilities.

Speaking on Sky Sports 1’s Transfer Centre on Monday night (7pm), he said: “He’s certainly a player who’s good on the ball. He’s pretty efficient.

“I’d like to see the passing stats because I think Jose [Mourinho] would look more at passing player, [who can] pass it out from the back.

“They’ll have [two players who can pass out from defence] with [Eric] Bailly and Lindelof. I think he’ll be a very good signing for Manchester United.”

Lindelof was one of Benfica’s top performers last term, playing 47 league and cup games.

The no-nonsense centre-back’s only goal of the 2016-17 season came via a stunning free kick in the 1-1 league draw with Sporting Lisbon in April.

The 22-year-old joined Benfica from Swedish side Vasteras SK in July 2012, and he went on to make 96 appearances in all competitions for the club’s B team.

He then broke into the first team in the summer of 2015, and has been a first choice centre-back for the club ever since, playing 73 league and cup games.

Lindelof has been capped by Sweden on 12 occasions, and he featured for the full 90 minutes in his nation’s 2-1 World Cup qualifying win over France last week.
