Inter Milan have accepted an improved bid of £45m for attacker Ivan Perisic from Manchester United, according to Calciomercato.

After Mourinho’s initial bid of £26m was rejected for the Croatian star, the Reds increased their offer which was finally accepted by the Italian club.

Mourinho has had a keen eye on the 28-year old since March after he traveled to Zagreb earlier in the year to meet with agents of Perisic.

The move to Old Trafford will see the Croatian’s yearly salary double from £2m to £4m a season.

Not only would this move be favourable to Perisic’s bank balance, but also to the Reds, as the player will slot in nicely to Mourinho’s plan to increase United’s attacking capability.

The attacking midfielder scored 11 times during the Serie A season, with 11 assists to match.

This agreement follows United resigning themselves to losing a deal for striker Antoine Griezmann after Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban was upheld yesterday.

Before the verdict United were considering meeting the Frenchman’s release clause of £87m.

However, with Atletico unable to replace their star man if they sell, Diego Simeone moved to convince Griezmann to stay.

The report suggests that the deal for Perisic will be finalised next week.
