Istanbul Basaksehir are eyeing a summer swoop for Manchester United ace Ashley Young, according to a Scottish Sun report.

The newspaper claims the Turkish outfit want to bolster their squad with some big-name signings ahead of next term’s Champions League campaign, and they have identified Young, 31, as a potential transfer target.

It is said United manager Jose Mourinho will consider bids for the England star, whose contract with the club enters its final year this summer.

Young was used sparingly by Mourinho last season as other options where preferred and he made just 23 appearances in all competitions.

He joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2011 in a £15million switch from Aston Villa, and he has since played 164 league and cup games for the club, which have yielded 14 goals and 32 assists.

The 31-year-old spent four seasons in Birmingham prior to making his Old Trafford move, where he became a real favourite at the club, making 190 appearances in all competitions.

Young joined United as a quick right-sided winger, but since his pace has waned he been deployed at right-back, where he is also comfortable.

He has been capped by England on 30 occasions, but he has not featured since the 0-0 World Cup qualifying draw with Ukraine in September 2013.
