Everton are set to re-ignite their interest in Burnley defender Michael Keane in the coming weeks, according to The Times.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Toffees had turned their attention to other targets after the 24-year-old looked destined to join Manchester United, but could now ramp up their pursuit with United closing in on Victor Lindelof.

Manchester United confirmed on their official website on Saturday that they had agreed a deal to sign defender Lindelof from Portuguese giants Benfica this summer.

The Premier League giants had earlier looked to have been in the driving seat in the pursuit of Burnley defender Keane, but their imminent signing of Lindelof suggests their interest has cooled.

Everton could now be set to take full advantage as a result, and manager Ronald Koeman is “expected” to pursue a deal.

The Dutchman was understood to have identified Las Palmas defender Mauricio Lemos as his primary target after their chances of signing Keane took a turn for the worst, with the 21-year-old impressing in La Liga last season.

Lemos scored five goals from 26 appearances in all competitions, having joined from Russian outfit Rubin Kazan at the start of the season.

Koeman may still withhold his interest in Lemos should he fail in his fresh attempts to land Keane, but the Uruguay international is no longer at the top of his summer wishlist.

Keane also gave an impressive showing during the 2016-17 campaign, contributing two goals and one assist from 39 appearances in all competitions, as Burnley retained their place in the Premier League.

The Times report also details that Everton are set to receive a “definitive answer” from attacker target Sandro Ramirez on Monday, ahead of a potential £5.2million deal to join the Merseyside club from Malaga.
