Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci would fit well with Guardiola’s defensive remodel.
The Spaniard will need an experienced and solid centre-back at City owing to the club’s captain Vincent Kompany seeming more injury prone than ever.
Last season, the Manchester skipper missed a total of 22 games owing to various knee and leg injuries, and Guardiola won’t want to take that chance next season.
The 30-year-old Italian would provide the leadership and maturity that the squad need from the backline, which will fill the void of Kompany.
Bonucci renewed his contract with Juventus in December, and could be at the club until 2021.
The former Barcelona manager will need to tempt the Italian away from Juventus if he wants his squad to be title contenders.
