Signing these three defenders would transform Man City

Benjamin Mendy

Monaco defender Benjamin Mendy would slot straight into the left-back position at Man City.

After Bacary Sagna’s release, the only left-backs remaining at the Etihad are Alexsander Kolarov and academy graduate Angelino, which could pose a serious problem for Pep Guardiola next season.

However, with the addition of Mendy, 22, the problem would be solved as the Frenchman has impressed during his first season with Monaco.

Guardiola said last season that he had to adapt to fit his players’ ages and abilities with much of the defence being over the age of 33, so an arrival of a fast-paced 22-year-old would be welcome and allow the City boss to mould the left-back into his desired role.

Mendy made 39 appearances for Monaco last season, and provided 11 assists in addition to a goal, proving that he’s a valuable asset to the team.
