Manchester City want a buy-back clause on striker Kelechi Iheanacho, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claims that Premier League sides West Ham United and Leicester City are keen on signing the 20-year-old this summer but City want to add a buy-back option in order to have the opportunity to re-sign the striker in the future.

The report claims that manager Pep Guardiola is willing to let Iheanacho the Etihad Stadium this summer but he is aware that the striker has the potential to become prolific in the Premier League.

The Telegraph claims that the Manchester club value Iheanacho at £25million and a buy-back clause would be for £35million, another £10million on top.

It is understood that the introduction of a buy-back clause could put off potential suitors as it introduces complications with the “buying club having to ensure that they are covered at both ends of the deal.”

The Nigerian has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular for City with talisman Sergio Aguero getting the nod ahead of him, and new striker Gabriel Jesus leapfrogging both of them.

The striker only managed to start five Premier League matches last season but he still contributed with seven goals and three assists in 29 games in all competitions.

Iheanacho’s current contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in 2021.
