Manchester City are planning to make a sensational move for Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish outlet claims that City manager Pep Guardiola have enquired about the availability of the 32-year-old forward and is keen to sign him.

This story comes after Sky Sports correspondent Kaveh Solhekol claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Portuguese star wants to leave the La Liga giants following recent allegations over tax fraud in Spain.

Don Balon reports that Guardiola is looking for a clinical finisher in his side and he believes that Ronaldo is the ideal candidate to help the club challenge for the Premier League title next season.

It is also reported that City will offer the Portuguese forward a better salary than he is currently earning at the Bernabeu and they have promised him judicial protection.

This news will no doubt concern Manchester United fans as Ronaldo enjoyed a successful six-year stint at Old Trafford scoring a total of 118 goals.

Guardiola is fully aware of what the Portuguese superstar can produce on the football pitch as he faced the forward on numerous occasions during his three-year spell as Barcelona manager.

Ronaldo scored six goals against Guardiola’s team, including the match winner in the 2011 Copa del Rey final at the Mestalla Stadium.

The Portugal international also scored a brace against Guardiola’s Bayern Munich side in the 2014 Champions League semi-final secong leg at the Allianz Arena.

Ronaldo’s current contract at Real Madrid expires in the summer of 2021.
