Andre Wisdom will end his lengthy association with Liverpool within days as he puts the finishing touches to his transfer to Derby County, according to the Derby Telegraph.

The regional newspaper claim that the Championship club want to make the defender, 24, part of their squad before they jet off to a training camp in Tenerife on Sunday.

The Derby Telegraph report that Wisdom began his medical on Wednesday but it had not been completed by Thursday morning.

It is said that the Rams have agreed to pay £2million rising to a potential £4.5million for Wisdom.

“He has still got one outstanding thing on his medical that still hasn’t been cleared up yet, so we just need to make sure that all gets passed off,” manager Gary Rowett said, as quoted by the Derby Telegraph.

“”He came in yesterday (Wednesday) and did the fitness tests and so we are hoping it all gets done before Sunday but the main thing is it gets done and everybody is happy.”

Derby revealed on their official club website earlier this month that Wisdom had agreed the terms of a move from from Anfield and would undergo medical tests when he returned from holiday.

Wisdom, who can play as a centre-back or right-back, has spent his entire career at Merseyside giants after emerging from the academy ranks and made his first-team debut in September 2012 when Brendan Rodgers was manager.

But the Leeds-born youngster has only made 22 first-team appearances despite being a mainstay of the squad and a regular on the fringes of the team over the last five years.

He has spent a lot of time out on loan through spells at Derby, West Brom, Norwich and Red Bull Salzburg, where he played 25 matches in all competitions last season.

The 10-times former England Under-21 international had an impressive spell at Pride Park in 2013-14 when he made 38 appearances across all competitions and supplied three assists.
