Celtic have had an offer to sign Liverpool winger Ryan Kent rejected, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim that Brendan Rodgers has returned to his former club Liverpool to attempt to land the winger, 20, on a season-long loan.

The Sun report that the Premier League giants have rebuffed the offer from Celtic and that Kent could make a £6million permanent move to Bournemouth.

It is said that Cherries manager Eddie Howe has followed an enquiry for the wide player with a formal offer after being pressed into action following interest from recently relegated Middlesbrough.

Liverpool are now weighing up selling a third player in 12 months to Bournemouth after Jordon Ibe and Brad Smith left for the south coast club last summer in deals worth £15million and £6million respectively.

Howe is also said to be keen on a loan deal for another young player at Anfield, the versatile defender Joe Gomez.

Kent is a product of the Liverpool academy and has made only one senior appearance to date for the club.

He is contracted to the Merseysiders until the summer of 2019 but has been out on loan in the last two seasons.

Kent spent 2016-17 at Championship side Barnsley and was a mainstay of the team that secured a comfortable mid-table finish.

He started 38 of their 46 league matches, scoring three goals and supplying three assists, and accumulated 47 appearances in all competitions.

The England Under-20 international had a loan spell at Coventry in 2015-16 and made 17 appearances for the League One club.
