Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez could be set to sign for fellow Premier League side Arsenal this week, according to Sport.

The Spanish newspaper claims that the North London club have offered the 26-year-old a four-year contract and the winger is likely to put to paper on a deal.

The report claims that the Algerian could complete a move to the Emirates Stadium for a fee around £35million.

Sport claims that Mahrez has been in contact with La Liga giants Barcelona over the past couple of weeks but although the Algerian would prefer a move to the Camp Nou, he is reportedly tired of waiting for the Catalan club who are currently prioritising other summer targets.

It is understood that Barcelona are currently negotiating deals to bring midfielder Marco Verratti and Hector Bellerin to the club this summer, with Mahrez being a potential option but not a priority.

This comes after the story in Le Buteur which reported that the Algerian hold told close friends that he preferred a move to Arsenal over several other Premier League clubs.

Mahrez was instrumental in guiding Leicester to their first ever Premier League title during the 2015-16 season, scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists in the league.

The forward also produced some impressive displays last season, contributing with 10 goals and seven assists in all competitions.

The Algerian’s current contract at the King Power Stadium runs out in 2020.
