Real Madrid centre-back Pepe is set to depart from the Spanish giants as his contract expires in just nine days, after making just 18 appearances this season under Zinedine Zidane.
The 34-year-old was certainly the better of the two central defenders in Portugal’s first match against Mexico, with Jose Fonte looking shaky at the back and responsible for the first of Mexico’s goals.
With Phil Jagielka uncertain over his future, the Toffees have just Ashley Williams and Ramiro Funes Mori as other options and Pepe should be signed to help fill that uncertainty.
