Everton manager Ronald Koeman has taken to Twitter to congratulate his young players who were involved in England’s Under-20s World Cup win.

The young Three Lions claimed the cup with a 1-0 win over Venezuela in the final on Sunday.

Toffees forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin stole the headlines as he bagged the decisive goal, but his club teammates Ademola Lookman, Jonjoe Kenny, Callum Connolly and Kieran Dowell were all involved and made key contributions.

Meanwhile, Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman gained plaudits after he made a vital penalty save in the second half, to ensure England held onto their lead.

Koeman posted a message of congratulations on his personal Twitter account, in which he wrote: “Congrats England U20. Proud of our five Blues in the team.”

Calvert-Lewin played in all seven matches of his side’s World Cup winning campaign, and he scored two goals.

Lookman also shone for the youngsters, bagging three goals in his tournament six appearances.

Koeman brought both players to Goodison Park last season, as Calvert-Lewin arrived from Sheffield United in the summer of 2016 for £1.5million, while Lookman moved from Charlton in January of this year for £7.5million.

Kenny was a mainstay of the England Under-20s back line in the tournament held in South Korea, playing all seven matches, but his defensive partner Connolly only made two appearances.

Meanwhile, Dowell also featured in all seven games, and he provided two assists and scored a goal against South Korea in the group stages.
