Davy Klaassen has expressed his delight on Twitter after agreeing to join Everton.

The Merseyside giants announced on their official website and official Twitter account on Thursday night that the attacking midfielder, 24, had penned a five-year contract after completing a £23.6million transfer from Ajax.

Klaasen took to his personal Twitter account on Friday to tell Everton fans that it was a “great honour” to join an “amazing team” and he is “very excited” about settling in at his new home.

The 14-times Holland international has made the move from his homeland to the north-west of England after a sensational season for Ajax.

The central attacking midfielder scored a remarkable 20 goals from 50 appearances in all competitions from his central attacking midfield position, and also weighed in with a notable 12 assists.

Klaasen made four Champions League appearances, which yielded four goals, as he demonstrated his pedigree to a wider audience.

The Dutchman’s statistics are all the more impressive because he was utilised in a number of positions by Ajax manager Peter Bosz in the 2016-17 campaign, including as a defensive midfielder, box-to-box midfielder and attacking midfielder.

His transfer to Everton brings to an end an association with the Dutch club that began at academy level.

Klaassen broke into the club’s first team in the summer of 2012, and he has since played 180 league and cup games, which have yielded 55 goals and 38 assists.
