Everton will pay a potential £31million to seal the signing of Michael Keane as they prepare to take their summer spending up to the £97million mark, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claim the Merseysiders are in line to wrap up the capture of the Burnley defender at the start of next week as their extensive recruitment drive continues.

It has been widely reported that the fee for Keane will be £25million but the Telegraph claim it will actually be £31million, made up of £25million plus £6million of add-ons depending on his success at Goodison Park.

However, not all of the fee for the centre-back will go to Burnley, as Keane’s former club Manchester United will earn 25 per cent of the deal, equating to an initial £6.25million or a potential £7.75million.

Keane , 24, was a mainstay of the Burnley side that comfortably maintained their Premier League status last season and was capped by England for the first time earlier this year.

Everton have been working overtime behind the scenes on strengthening Ronald Koeman’s squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

They have already signed goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for £30million from Sunderland, playmaker Davy Klaassen from Ajax for £24million and Holland Under-18 defender Nathangelo Markelo from FC Volendam.

The Telegraph report that the Merseysiders are also reportedly closing on the signings of forward duo Sandro Ramirez, who is set to arrive from Malaga for £5million, and Henry Onyekuru, who will join from KAS Eupen for £6.8million before being loaned to Anderlecht next season.

The total value of the deals will be worth £97million and all are virtually in place before the transfer window officially even opens.
