Anderlecht chief issues Everton warning over Dendoncker interest

Anderlecht chief executive Herman van Holsbeeck has stated only a “monumental sum” will prise Leander Dendoncker away from the club amid interest from Everton.

The Scottish Sun has claimed the Merseysiders have had a £15million bid for the 22-year-old turned down as the Belgian giants look to hold onto their man, and not even £30million may not be enough to secure his services.

Speaking to Belgian news outlet DH, he said: “We do not set a price for Leander, but obviously we want to keep him for another year, as we did with [Youri] Tielemans last season.

“Which is in proportion to this sum, we will talk about it with his entourage in the days to come.

“He is a type of player whose limits can not be known, if, of course, an English club offers a monumental sum, to get around the table, but we do not need money right now.”

Dendoncker was a mainstay in the heart of Anderlecht’s midfield this term, making 57 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals.

He was a key man in manager Rene Weiler’s side this campaign, and he played a major role as the club won the Belgian league.

The 22-year-old made the jump from the club’s reserves in the summer of 2014, and he has since made more than 120 league and cup appearances for the Belgian giants.

Dendoncker has been capped by Belgium on two occasions, making his international debut in a 4-3 friendly win over France in July of 2015.

The Scottish Sun report also claims Manchester United and Chelsea are eyeing summer moves for the combative central midfielder.

However, Anderlecht look set to play hardball with anyone who is interested in Dendoncker, and with the player under contract until 2021, they can demand a lucrative price for one of their young talents.
