Premier League outfit Everton are interested in signing Saint-Etienne defender Florentin Pogba this summer, according to Jeune Afrique.

The French speaking magazine claimed on their website that the Toffees were “seriously” considering a move for the 26-year-old, and that he could be a Premier League player “in the coming weeks”.

Pogba has just one year left to run on his current contract at the Ligue 1 club, but manager Christophe Galtier is happy for him to leave this summer to regain at least some transfer revenue from the sale.

Saint-Etienne would lose out on a potential transfer fee if they were to allow Pogba to see out the remainder of his contract at the club and leave on a free next summer, meaning Galtier could now seek to cash-in on Everton’s interest.

Pogba is also believed to like the prospect of a move to Goodison Park “very much”, a destination where he can continue his development in the Europa League for a fourth successive season.

Champions League newcomers RB Leipzig are also understood to be interested in signing Pogba this summer, but Everton are credited by Jeune Afrique as the side with the “most serious” interest in a summer deal.

A 12-time Guinea international, the versatile defender is the brother of current Premier League star Paul Pogba, who joined Manchester United in a world record £89.3million deal a year ago.

Pogba can operate at centre-back or as a left full-back, and made 29 appearances in all competitions for Saint-Etienne during the 2016-17 season, including starts in all 11 of their Europa League fixtures.
