Germany international Niklas Sule has claimed he did not think twice about signing for Bayern Munich despite interest from Chelsea.

Sule, 21, is set to join the German giants from Hoffenheim when the summer transfer window opens on July 1, having agreed to a £17million move in January of this year.

A London Evening Standard report claims the Blues had earmarked the centre-back as a potential summer target, but they were blown out of the water by Bayern’s bid.

Now the 21-year-old has added further insult to injury by taking a swipe at Chelsea as he prepares to join the Bavarians.

Speaking German newspaper Bild, he said: “There was interest from Chelsea, but Bayern are among the top three clubs in the world so I didn’t have to think about it long.

“No club from England could have stimulated me as the offer from Bayern did.”

Sule was one of Hoffenheim’s top performers last term, making 34 appearances in all competitions.

The 6″4 centre-back graduated from the club’s second XI into the senior squad in the summer of 2013, and he has since played 117 league and cup games.

The 21-year-old has already been capped by Germany on two occasions, making his debut in a 2-0 friendly win over Finland in August of last year.

He played 90 minutes in the most recent international as Germany drew 1-1 with Denmark on Tuesday.

He joins a club who won the Bundesliga for the fifth time in a row in the 2016/17 campaign, as well as reaching the latter stages of the Champions League.
