New Hull City manager Leonid Slutsky is interested in signing Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas in the summer transfer window, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper claims Slutsky, who is a close friend with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, is keen on bringing young talent from Stamford Bridge to the KCOM stadium next season and he wants to make the 24-year old defender his first signing.

It also reports that the Premier League champions are willing to sell Kalas this summer.

The Hull boss reportedly wants to take a few Chelsea players on loan next season but it is unclear whether Kalas will be a permanent move or a loan spell.

The Czech defender signed for Chelsea in 2010 summer transfer window but he has been unable to become a first-team regular at the club and he has been sent out on numerous loan spells during his seven-year stint at Stamford Bridge.

Kalas eventually made his Premier League debut for the club near the end of the 2013-14 campaign where the Blues dented Liverpool’s title ambitions with a 2-0 win at Anfield.

The Czech Republic international spent last season on loan at bitter rivals Fulham and he played a key role in helping them reach the playoffs as he made 36 league appearances and contributed with one goal and two assists.

Kalas’ current contract with Chelsea expires at the end of next season.
