AC Milan open talks for Chelsea’s Diego Costa

|

Italian giants AC Milan have held talks with Diego Costa’s agent over a potential move for the Chelsea striker, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claims on their website that Costa’s agent Jorge Mendes met with Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli, directors of the Italian football club, in Cardiff ahead of the Champions League final last Saturday.

Sky report that another meeting is scheduled for this week to thrash out a deal for one of the super agent’s most high profile clients.

Milan are reported to be interested in three players represented by Mendes, including Costa, and are said to be holding another meeting with the Portuguese football agent later this week.

They are also reportedly interested in securing a deal for Torino forward Andrea Belotti, having been reported to have made a £39m bid, but may be forced to turn to Chelsea and Spain man Costa if a move fails to materialise.

Costa fired the Blues to the Premier League title with 20 goals in 35 appearances, although his future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain.

He has scored an impressive 52 league goals in 86 appearances since joining from Spanish side Atletico Madrid back in 2014.

Milan meanwhile endured a disappointing season in Serie A, finishing sixth, 28 points behind eventual champions Juventus.

However, the San Siro based side are prepared to splash the cash this summer following a £630m takeover in April by Chinese investors Rossoneri Sport Investment Lux, and it appears a striker is top of their list.
