Bayern join Lukaku transfer battle

|

Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, according to a report in the Manchester Evening News

The newspaper claim that Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea are set to face competition for Everton’s top scorer from the Bundesliga side.

The Manchester Evening News report that United boss Jose Mourinho is interested in the Belgian after he made finding a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic the club’s focus during the transfer window.

Ibrahimovic looks unlikely to make an appearance for the club during 2017, according to the report, as the giant striker recovers from a serious ACL knee injury which he sustained back in April.

Chelsea interest in Lukaku is well documented but Bayern’s interest opens up an alternative plan to staying in the Premier League.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti is an admirer of the Everton goal machine as he looks to strengthen his squad’s attack in the hope of improving the club’s Champions League campaign next season.

It is said that Lukaku’s fate could rely heavily on his father’s input, as the former goakeeper is particularly open to his son making a move to the Allianz Arena.

It’s unsurprising that Everton’s No 10 is so in demand after an impressive performance for the Toffees last season, which saw him just narrowly miss out on the Golden Boot award to Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Last season during the Premier League Lukaku netted 25 goals for his side, with an addition of six assists.

The 24-year-old made the move to Goodison Park from Chelsea back in 2014 for £28million, and his side are now only willing to sell him for a staggering £100million.
