Arsenal full-back Kieran Gibbs will only accept a contract worth £80,000-a-week to move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper claims that the North London club are prepared to offload the 27-year-old Englishman in order to make more funds available for potential arrivals, but the player wants clubs to offer him a £20,000-a-week increase on his current weekly wage.

The report claims that these wage demands along with Arsenal’s £15million asking price have made several Premier League clubs cool their interest in the full-back with Watford being one of the teams to pull out of a potential deal.

Although Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is interested in reshaping the squad ahead of next season, the Standard reports that the majority of teams outside the top half of the league table are unable to meet the wage demands of the player.

Gibbs did not enjoy much game with the North London club last season as he only managed eight Premier League starts.

The full-back was not even selected in the matchday squad to face Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium at the end of the season.

The English defender is unlikely to be a first-team regular next season and a move away from North London might just reignite his footballing career.

Gibbs’ current contract at the Emirates Stadium expires at the end of next season.
