Monaco are prepared to increase Kylian Mbappe’s wages to ensure that he remains at the Ligue 1 club, according to a report in Le Journal du Dimanche

The French newspaper report that Mbappe’s weekly pay cheque will increase from £17,500 to nearly £150,000-a-week, which will make the 18-year-old the club’s highest earning player.

Le Journal du Dimanche revealed that the club want to match his wages to his contribution which he made during his first full season at the club.

Mbappe helped Monaco win the Ligue 1 title as well as reach the Champions League semi-final stage after he netted an impressive 26 goals and provided a further 14 assists throughout his 44 appearances for the club.

It is said that the Ligue 1 outfit want to increase the teenager’s wages to ensure that the Frenchman doesn’t move to Real Madrid or Arsenal this summer.

The report states that Leonardo Jardim is not prepared to sell the 18-year-old sensation despite receiving a world-record bid of £114 million from Real Madrid.

The claim comes just days after Arsene Wenger was reported as confident in signing the starlet.

Arsenal has remained as a key contenders in the race for the French international as the 67-year-old is known for developing young talent and would hope to mould Mbappe into a Thierry Henry-type striker.

The Arsenal boss hopes to strengthen his squad ready for the club’s 2017/18 Premier League campaign, after the Gunners has a disappointing season and missed out on a Champions League spot when they finished fifth in the table.
