Arsenal star forwards Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are demanding an increase in their weekly wages due to the club not qualifying for the Champions League next season, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper claims that the North London club have offered the players a combined weekly wage of £550,000, with the 28-year-old Chilean forward receiving the higher offer of £300,000-a-week.

The Standard reports that Sanchez has received an offer from China worth £400,000-a-week and he is also using this to try and earn more money at the Emirates Stadium.

It is said the pair were initially looking to hit parity with some of the Premier League’s higher paid players, but now believe their bargaining chips are even stronger after Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League.

The two men have also reportedly spoken to manager Arsene Wenger about potential summer signings before putting pen to paper on brand new deals with the club.

It is reported that Sanchez was not pleased with Arsenal’s transfer activity before the start of the 2015-2016 campaign when experienced goalkeeper Petr Cech was the only new recruit to join the club.

Arsenal already appear to be very active in the summer transfer window as Sky Sports reported that Belgian side KAS Eupen have accepted a £6.8million bid from the Gunners to sign forward Henry Onyekuru.

Sanchez was named the man of the match in this year’s FA Cup final as he opened the scoring in the 2-1 victory over Premier League champions Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.

The Chilean has scored in his last two FA Cup final appearances.

The FA Cup is the only major trophy that both Sanchez and Ozil have won during their spell in North London.
