Belgian giants Anderlecht want to sign Newcastle ace Tim Krul on loan next season, according to a Mirror report.

The newspaper claimed on its transfer live blog on Sunday afternoon (13.59) that Anderlecht are interested in Krul, while Newcastle are eyeing swoops for Pepe Reina and Willy Caballero.

The Mirror reports that Magpies manager Rafael Benitez is “sweating” on completing a deal for Reina, who he managed with such success at Liverpool, as Krul is “on his way out”.

Krul, 29, spent the second half of the 2016-17 season on loan at AZ Alkmaar where he made 22 appearances in all competitions.

The Dutch shot-stopper was also sent out out on loan to Ajax for the first half of the campaign, as Toon boss Benitez gave Karl Darlow the chance to flourish at St James’ Park.

Krul signed for Newcastle in the summer of 2005 as he joined the club’s academy from Dutch outfit ADO Den Haag.

He has since made 185 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies, 157 of which came in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old has been capped by the Netherlands on eight occasions, but he has not featured since the 2-1 European Championships qualifying win over Kazakhstan in October 2015.

Benitez has earmarked the position between the sticks as an area for improvement as his side prepare for life in the Premier League, and Reina and Caballero have both previously been linked with moves to St James’ Park.
