Newcastle fans on Twitter have torn into striker Tammy Abraham after his display for the England Under-21s on Tuesday evening.
The young Three Lions team lined up against their German counterparts in the Under-21s European Championships in Lithuania.
David Selke opened the scoring for Germany before Demarai Gray levelled just before half time. Abraham then put England ahead on the 50th minute with Felix Platte ensuring the match went to extra time and penalties with a 70th minute equaliser.
Germany then proved their quality from the spot once more, as they knocked out Aidy Boothroyd’s team on penalties with both Abraham and Southampton’s Nathan Redmond missing their kicks.
It was the performance of young Chelsea forward Abraham which also caught the attention of the Newcastle support on social media given his links to the club this summer alongside reportedly turning them down for Swansea.
A number were keen to point out that they were now glad that he didn’t choose to sign for them based on his performance alone, while others claimed that the Magpies had dodged a bullet.

Despite not wowing fans on Tuesday, he certainly did in the Championship in the last campaign with 26 goals scored from 47 matches in all competitions and the 19-year-old forward will now be looking to push on in his career.
