Manchester United fans have reacted with humour, excitement and trepidation on social media after finding out that they will be facing La Liga champions Real Madrid in the 2017 UEFA Super Cup.
Real Madrid made history by becoming the first time in the Champions League era to win the trophy for two consecutive seasons as they beat Serie A champions Juventus 4-1 in the final on Saturday evening.
The result means that Zinedine Zidane’s men will face Europa League winners Manchester United in the annual UEFA Super Cup in Macedonia on 8 August.
Fans from the red side of Manchester United took to social media to express what they thought about facing the Spanish giants next season and the reaction was mixed to say the least.

It is fair to say that the majority of Manchester United fans seem excited to face former player Cristiano Ronaldo next season.
The Portuguese superstar has already faced the Manchester giants since departing Old Trafford in 2009.
Ronaldo struck twice over two legs as Real Madrid progressed to the Champions League quarter-finals during the 2012-13 campaign.
It will be the first time that Jose Mourinho will face his former club since leaving the Bernabeu four years ago.
