Premier League sides Everton and Tottenham are both looking at making a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s 23-year-old midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, according to Bild.

The German newspaper claim on their website that the attack-minded midfielder would prefer a move to England or Italy over Turkey, where he has been linked with Besiktas and Galatasaray.

The report also says that Italian side Lazio have made a £13million (€15million) approach for the 26-time-capped Turkish international, but the German side are looking to pick up around £21million (€25million) instead.

This would put the English duo at the front of the queue for his signature, with both sides seemingly in the market for a player of Calhanoglu’s mould.

The Toffees have been linked with a £26million move for fellow attacking midfielder Davy Klaassen from Ajax, as reported by De Telegraaf, while Tottenham seem keen on Sporting Lisbon’s Adrien Silva, according to Portuguese sports newspaper the Record.

Calhanoglu endured a difficult last season with Leverkusen, scoring six goals in 15 league appearances before FIFA handed him a four month ban in February for a breach of contract while at Kalsruhre, which ruled him out of the rest of the season.

The attacking midfielder is known for his ability from set pieces, most notably scoring a free kick from 40 yards out when playing for Hamburg SV against VFL Wolfsburg.
